At Le Quartier Français, this time of year is always charged with fervour and excitement as it is a temporal marker for the announcement of the eagerly awaited results of the The S.Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants.
First published by Restaurant magazine in 2002, this highly acclaimed, internationally influential event, and concomitant annual announcement, is widely considered "the most credible indicator of the best places to eat on Earth".
Needless to say, to be included in this list and ranked amongst the most prestigious culinary institutions and rub shoulders with world-renowned chefs and restaurateurs, is an honour not to be taken lightly.

So, after having received word from that proverbial "little bird", Executive Chef, Margot Janse, and General Manager, Linda Coltart, jetted over to London to attend this debate-provoking, nail-bitingly unnerving, and often controversial ceremony (held this year at the Freemason's Hall in London on 21 April) at which the crème de la crème of eateries were unveiled in all their glory. For the fourth consecutive year, Le Quartier Français was placed among the top 50 and awarded the coveted title of Best Restaurant in the Middle East and Africa.

Susan Huxter, owner of Le Quartier Français, is understandably over-the-moon because "an award like this is a wonderful acknowledgment of all the teamwork and commitment that goes into developing, running, maintaining and constantly reinventing a restaurant like The Tasting Room".

2008 marks the fourth consecutive year, and fifth year over all, that Le Quartier Français has made an appearance in The World's Top 50.
