| Informatie over Jacques de Jager Jacques de Jager heads up the Culinary Team at the 5-star Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate, Franschhoek, which is known locally and internationally for its superb boutique accommodation and culinary achievements. Jacques was raised and educated in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. He attended the School of Food and Wine for an intensive chef's course which he completed in 2002. With a hunger to learn he soon relocated to the Algarve, Portugal where he worked at the well known Anna's International Restaurant. On his return home to Durban he worked at The Aubergine Restaurant known for its modern French cuisine with inspiring Asian influences. It was not long before he was approached to work at Chez Colette Restaurant in the Sofitel Hotel, Philadelphia, U.S.A, where he was based for two years. During a visit to South Africa he was offered the job as Assistant Executive Chef at Grande Provence where he learnt the art of marrying the award winning Grande Provence Wines, created on the Estate, with the restaurant's typically French classical cuisine with a modern twist. Wishing to satisfy his hunger to learn Jacques took up the post as Executive Chef at Azura Lodge, a 5-star luxury eco-boutique retreat on Benguerra Island, Mozambique, which forms part of the Bazaruto Archipelago near the town of Vilanculos. Jacques took up the position at Grande Provence in January 2008. |
